Side Chic Seyram Adablah Has Been Remanded By Court In Nsawam Prisons For 45 Days” pertains to the recent sentencing of Deborah Seyram Adablah, a Ghanaian woman who gained public attention in 2023 after suing her former employer and alleged “sugar daddy,” Ernest Kwesi Nimako, a former Chief Finance Officer at First Atlantic Bank.

On May 6, 2025, the Accra High Court sentenced Adablah to 45 days in Nsawam Prison for contempt of court. This decision followed her release of two videos on social media in which she made defamatory statements about the judiciary and accused the presiding judge, Justice John Bosco Nabarese, of bias and unprofessional conduct. In these videos, she also threatened the judge, stating he would “face her wrath” and made other derogatory remarks.

The contempt charges were initiated after the court became aware of these videos. A bench warrant was issued for her arrest, and upon learning of this, Adablah posted another video indicating her intention to surrender to the authorities.

The original lawsuit filed by Adablah in January 2023 alleged that Nimako had failed to fulfill promises made during their relationship, including providing her with a car, monthly allowances, and other financial support. However, the court dismissed the case, ruling that the relationship was based on an immoral and illegal act, specifically fornication for financial gain, and therefore, no cause of action could arise from it.

Deborah Seyram Adablah, a former National Service personnel in Ghana, has been sentenced to 45 days in Nsawam Prison for contempt of court. This development follows her release of videos on social media in which she made disparaging remarks about the judiciary and specific judges involved in her ongoing legal case.

Background of the Case:
In January 2023, Adablah filed a lawsuit against her former employer and alleged “sugar daddy,” Ernest Kwesi Nimako, a former Chief Finance Officer at First Atlantic Bank. She claimed that Nimako had failed to fulfill promises made during their relationship, including providing her with a car, monthly allowances, accommodation, and financial support for a business venture. However, in November 2023, the Accra High Court dismissed her case, ruling that the relationship was based on an immoral and illegal act, specifically fornication for financial gain, and therefore, no cause of action could arise from it.

Contempt of Court:
Following the court’s decision, Adablah posted two videos on social media in which she criticized the judiciary and accused the presiding judge, Justice John Bosco Nabarese, of bias and unprofessional conduct. In these videos, she also threatened the judge, stating he would “face her wrath” and made other derogatory remarks.

The court deemed these actions as contemptuous, leading to the issuance of a bench warrant for her arrest. Upon learning of this, Adablah posted another video indicating her intention to surrender to the authorities. She subsequently reported herself to the Ghana Police Service and was sentenced to 45 days in prison on May 6, 2025.

Public Reaction:
The case has sparked widespread public debate about freedom of expression, judicial independence, and the consequences of disrespecting court authority. Some commentators have argued that the 45-day sentence is too lenient, while others believe it serves as a necessary deterrent against contemptuous behavior towards the judiciary.
